Day/Night Two: Empty Fields And Locked Doors

After a good nights sleep and a bit of a lie in, I head off to sell my plundered goods. I manage to make enough profit to enable the purchase of a good set of fur armour and replace my rusting dagger with a short sword (a bit large for my liking but It’ll be needed if I come across more necromancers).

Having explored a fair bit of the land to the north of the city I think today will be spent searching for more hidden ruins along the southern coast, unfortunately no roads lead that way so I’ll have to scramble through the wilderness and hope.

Unfortunately I find almost nothing at all of interest, the beaches are devoid of hidden entrances and the rocky hills have not been excavated. I manage to stumble across a doomstone on the way back towards the road and further still is a (seemingly) abandoned camp. While scouting the area to ensure a peaceful night I happen across an old fort named Dasek Moor, exploring forts isn’t part of my directive but as an archaeologist I can’t resist taking a peak. And like I said, I do enjoy my night-time exploration.

Again these old and structurally unstable ruins are found to be home to some foolish bandits. I sneak past a couple but get caught at the end and everyone is alerted to their new intruder, thankfully I’m prepared and manage to hold my own (though when you’re fighting people who’ve been sleeping in thick fog it’s hardly difficult). Alas, I lost the few lockpicks I had to their chests (and my greed), and am unable to venture deeper into the fort, another time perhaps.

After that short yet tiring adventure I don’t care how exposed the camp I found earlier is, it’s closer and I’m sure the bed will at least equal the one in my quarters.

Night One: Galas Agea

The money I made from my daily gatherings isn’t enough to buy anything so I’ll be heading into the ruins with just my dagger and no armour. dangerous, but I need to see what’s in there. I pass by the stones on the way there and recieve their blessings, which happens to be a bound daedric bow…with no arrows. Just at the perfect time, as a wolf snuck up behind me and gave chase. I make it to the ruins just as the curse wears off and have my moonlit duel with the beast. Victorious, I move onwards to mystery…
I turn the corner and…necromancers, great, just what I need. Handily there are some giant trap mechanisms between them and me, and their attempts at murder are futile. What were these amateurs thinking when they set up their camp in here? I strip down one of the unfortunate assassins and wear their robes in an attempt to fit in:
It doesn’t work. I think I’ll be making more money from the weapons haul I’m bringing back than from any ancient artifacts, not really how I envisioned this job when I took it. I delve deeper into the crypt and discover what I really wanted, however it’s slightly out of reach, on top of a shelf several metres above me with no way up, brilliant.
That seems to be all there is to Garlas Agea, a rather uninteresting place in terms of rare antiquities thankfully made up for by the leftovers from the necromancers. I might be able to afford some better protection for next time after this, I did manage to acquire a full set of novice alchemical equipment while there, very useful. It’s four in the morning by the time I get out, back to town for some sleep I think.

Day One: Fight, Flight, and Discovery

I search the deck of the boat for any sign of my luggage and equipment, no luck. The guy who brought me here avoids my questions, that’s the last time I take a cheap boat over here. I check out the other boats in the dock and find my pants and shirt, the crazy woman on board keeps muttering about spirits, I’d help her out but there’s nothing I can do with the rusty dagger I have right now.

The guards are just as useless at helping me find my missing stuff as much as anyone else. I hate this place already, I’m selling whatever useless bits and bobs I’ve got on me now and heading out into the wilderness, maybe I can find some ruins and the day won’t be a total waste.

I take the path round the side of the city walls (I see no reason to enter the city while I’m broke), and make my way up the hilly landscape, picking ingredients as I go. I find a couple of ancient stone circles and an imperial wayshrine. I take note of their locations and carry on scouting the area.

As I run around the undergrowth just out of view of the road I’m suddenly assaulted by a wolf, the chase leads me further out my way and to my great surprise, towards some ruins. Garlas Agea, my first discovery, I’ll return here later once I’ve sold the ingredients I’ve gathered over the course of my search. I prefer to do my work at night.

History Of Oblivion

I’m Indiran, an archaeologist, and I’ve been sent to Cyrodil to uncover details of the ancient civilization of the Ayleids. There are various ruins spread across the region and it’s my task to go find them, explore, and bring back anything of worth.

I took the boat from Hammerfell late in the evening and I’ve arrived at Anvil docks at one in the morning. The noise has woken me up so while I’m awake I’ll sort out some things for the morning; grab any useful foods and sort out my clothes.

Hmm, looks like they’ve forgotten to pack my luggage, all I have is the clothes I’m wearing and the dagger I keep with me while I sleep. Looks like I’ll need to buy more equipment in the morning.

If only I hadn’t stored my earnings with my other luggage…
